Job description

One to two permanent positions as Associate Professor in clinical adult psychology are available at The Department of Psychology.

Successful candidates are expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD candidates, participate in teaching and supervision of students, examination work and assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the Department of Psychology.

The candidates will teach and supervise in clinical adult psychology, with special emphasis on psychotherapeutic work. The positions are part of the Departments goal of strengthening psychotherapy and treatment research.

Applicants will be assessed according to documented research activity and teaching competence within the described field. Particular emphasis will be given to scientific production of high quality. The ideal candidate has a track-record of allocating external research funding and grants.

Qualification requirements

• Associate Professor: PhD or equivalent academic qualifications in Psychology. Applicants who are qualified for full professorship may apply for promotion once they have taken up their position.
• Applicants must be authorised as Psychologist in Norway, formally authorised as clinical specialist, and have substantial experience with psychotherapy for adults.
• You must be able to work collegially with demonstrated contribution to high quality teaching, research, and scholarship.
• An innovative, active and strong research profile with excellent future potential for performing research at an international level and a documented interest and potential for attracting research grants. Primary emphasis will be given to publications in internationally acknowledged publication channels.
• Pedagogical skills and formal basic pedagogical competence. Applicants that cannot document such competence at the time of employment must acquire this within the first two years subsequent to their appointment.
• Experience with international collaboration and/or external funding and grants will be considered positive.

Formal regulations

The successful candidate who at the time of appointment cannot document basic teaching qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications within a two-year period.

The successful candidate must demonstrate mastery of both English and one of the Scandinavian languages as working languages.
