Assistant professorships (“postdoc”) are fixed-term appointments for up to four years, primarily intended to qualify candidates for a career in academia.

The Postdoc position will be financed through the Research Council of Norway Toppforsk project “275906 The Demand and Supply of Public Education” led by principal investigator Professor Edwin Leuven. The primary objective of this project is to improve our understanding of how people make schooling decisions, how these decisions affect subsequent outcomes and how they line up with the demand in labor markets, and finally how they interact with the education system. The project will build on Norwegian registry data combined with targeted surveys and apply experimental and non-experimental methods using state-of-the-art statistics and econometrics.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in applied micro-econometrics, preferably with a focus on the economics of education or related fields. Applicants will be assessed based on scientific merits, teaching and personal qualities. We will also consider the thematic relevance of ongoing research and research plans for the project and for the Department’s teaching obligations and long-term academic development.

Candidates from Norwegian educational institutions must have submitted their doctoral dissertations for evaluation before February 1st, 2019. Candidates from foreign educational institutions must have completed the requirements for the doctoral degree within September 1st 2019. A prerequisite for taking up the position is the successful completion of a doctoral degree.
