About the position

The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences has a vacant temporary position as PhD Research Fellow in advanced power management circuits for piezoelectric Wirelss Energy transfer.

Appointment is for a period of three years. The position does not include teaching duties.

University of South-Eastern Norway has about 18 000 students and about 1500 employees. The university is organized in four faculties, with instruction and R&D activities on eight campuses. The main profile of the university is to provide socially relevant education, geared towards specific professions, and adapted to the requirements of the workplace, as well as to produce applied research and development.

The position is at the Department of Microsystems and the candidate reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Campus Vestfold in Horten.

Responsibilities and dutiesThe position is within a project on piezoelectric devices funded by the Research council of Norway and has industry collaboration. The position covers the area circuit solutions for acoustic power transfer with focus on advanced power management circuits for piezoelectric wireless energy transfer. The candidate must have deep understanding of and experience with microsystems and microeletronics related to the topic. Proven knowledge and ability in ultra low power, power managment circuitries, knowledge of low level simulation tool Cadence and understanding of low power, low voltage circuit design is required.

Qualifications

Applicants to the PhD position must have a Master's degree or equivalent higher education qualifications in microsystems or microelectronics. The applicant must have gained the degree within the planned time of appointment.

It is a requirement that the successful applicant is granted admission to the university's doctoral programme within a set deadline.

The research will be conducted within a project team and the candidate's ablitity to work in such team will be assessed. Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.

Salary

PhD Research Fellow (code 1017): NOK 449 400 a year. In special cases, employment in code 1378 may be concidered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.
