Applications are invited for a two year position as Researcher in language and reading development to be based at the Department of Special Needs Education, University of Oslo.

The position is connected to a project funded by the research council Norway, Preventing and Improving Special Needs Education in Children with Language Problems: A Campbell Review and Randomised Controlled Trials , Principal Investigators Monica Melby-Lervåg and Arne Lervåg. The work is related to doing statistical analysis of data in M-plus or other similar software and developing papers together with the principal investigators.

The appointment is a fulltime position and is made for a period of two years.

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in psychology or education.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English

The following qualifications will count in the assessment of the applicants: The candidate has to have knowledge about the development of language and reading skills. It is also an advantage if the candidate has knowledge and experience with topics that goes broader than language and reading skills, such as cognitive development and social emotional development. The candidate needs to have knowledge concerning statistical analyses and modelling of large data sets. International experience is important.

Personal skills

The candidate needs to be motivated and engaged. Also, the right candidate has the ability to work independent but also have good collaborative skills. The candidate needs to work in Norway, and also to engage in the activities in the department.
