The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

Oslo University Hospital is a highly specialized hospital in charge of extensive regional and local hospital assignments. As Scandinavia’s largest hospital, we carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments each year. The hospital has a nationwide responsibility for a number of national and multi-regional assignments, and has several national centers of competence. Oslo University Hospital is responsible for approximately 50 percent of all medical and health care research conducted at Norwegian hospitals, and is a significant role player within the education of a large variety of health care personnel.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant (otorhinolaryngology, head and neck) is available at the Department for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Head, Neck and Reconstructive Surgery, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part-time position as Professor II /Associate Professor (20 % position) in Medicine (otorhinolaryngology, head and neck) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is an absolute requirement that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:

The Department for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is Norway’s largest and the only regional department within this field of medicine in South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. The Department is divided into three sections; Section for Head and Neck Surgery, Section for Rhinolaryngology and Section for Otosurgery and Audiology. We do highly specialized treatment, research and education within head and neck surgery, tooth and jaw, ear diseases and audiology, rhinological and largyngological diseases.

The Department’s research activity is mainly organized into two research groups, partly linked to the clinical activity (CI/audiology, head and neck cancer and rhino-laryngology), and partly linked to laboratory and basic Research.

Qualification requirements – education and relevant personal qualities:

  • Authorization and medical license issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
  • Certified qualifications in the specialty of otorhinolaryngology, head and neck issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized
