One position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in biophysics and medical physics is available at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo.

No one can be appointed for more than one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo.

The Post doc Fellowship is for a period of 2 years. Within the framework of the position, duties may be assigned. Starting date as soon as possible.

More about the position

The position is part of a BIA- research project with funding from the Research Council of Norway relating to development of new and improved production technique within biopharmaceutical production. The BIA-project is a collaboration between several companies and research institutions with Diatec Monoclonals AS as manager.

The candidate will be working with studies of metabolism in cultured cells under different stress conditions, in particular studies of oxygen metabolism, with the aim to improve understanding of antibody production properties. The candidate will take part in development of experimental models and design of the studies. The focus will be on acquiring data on how growth conditions can be adjusted to improve upstream processes.

The candidate will be attached to the University of Oslo in close collaboration with the project manager and the companies and research institutions participating in the project. The candidate will during the postdoc period acquire relevant technical competence within biopharmaceutical production.

The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoralperiod.

Qualification requirements

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in physics or microsystems engineering
  • Excellent laboratory skills with experience with in vitro cell studies
  • Experience with microsensor monitoring of cellular metabolism
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desired qualifications:

  • Specialization in biophysics or medical physics
  • Experience with computer programming
