Project description

The CORPUS project will generate new knowledge on competence requirements and learning in the public services, by conducting close-up studies on how digitalization changes work, what competences are needed to cope with and resolve problems faced, and what learning opportunities are afforded in everyday work. Specifically, the project will examine the use of novel digital technologies for service coordination and decision making and how they influence work and learning. Organizational and workplace level empirical studies will be conducted in the public health sector, but the results will be relevant for other types of work organizations as well as for ways of understanding how digitization affects professional expertise. The project will employ an ethnographic approach and use various data sets from digital working environments.

The researchers in CORPUS will collaborate in the data collection, yet focus on different research questions. Your research will address how digitalization impact work and work organizations, with a focus on skills, competencies and learning. You are expected to draw on and contribute to the theoretical framework of the research project, and we welcome projects focusing on the digitalization of work which engage with a practice-based approach, an information infrastructure lens and debates within computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW).

Applicants are asked to develop a 2-5 page sketch of a project description, which will be further developed in collaboration with the project team.

More information about the project can be obtained from IFI contact person Miria Grisot, project leader Monika Nerland and from the project webpage.
