The Faculty of Nursing and Health (FSH) Sciences educates competent and future-oriented nurses and specialists in health, care and praxis-oriented research. We shall contribute to solving future challenges in health and welfare. The Faculty offers an inter-faculty PhD in Professional Praxis. The faculty for Nursing and Health Sciences has 2,400 students and 200 employees. The professional communities are organised into the following divisions: Nursing, Pharmaceuticals, and Social Education and Mental Health.

About the position

The faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, Nord University, Norway is recruiting a professor/associate professor to strengthen the faculty’s education and research within biostatistics. The position is located at the Academic Division of Nursing in Levanger or Bodø, Norway.

The successful candidate will have extensive research experience in biostatistics or a related academic field. The candidate will be able to and carry out collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects in the areas of strategic interest for the faculty. The appointee will actively seek for grants from competitive national and international funding agencies, and contribute to building the faculty’s research projects portfolio. Supervision of PhD students and assisting other scientific staff members in the application of statistical modelling and analyses, data management and programming, is required. The appointee will also be responsible for running and developing courses in statistical analyses and quantitative research methods at all education levels. The candidate must be familiar with statistical software packages such as SPSS, STATA, R or SAS. Teaching and supervision on the faculty’s other study locations can be expected.

Qualifications

  • For appointment to the position of associate professor, the candidate must:
  • - hold a Norwegian doctoral degree or equivalent, in a relevant field.
  • For appointment to the position of professor, the candidate must also:
  • -be able to document extensive, internationally recognized research within or relating to biostatistics. Experience from grant procurement from national and international funding agencies is vital.   • The successful candidate must be fluent in English and preferably also in a Scandinavian language.
  • Basic, formal pedagogical competence is required. Applicants who are unable to document such competence, will be required to attain the necessary qualification within two years of appointment. Nord University offers training that provides the necessary certification.

Personal Qualities

The candidate should possess good communication skills, including team building qualifications. Qualified applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:

  • Relevant International, scientific publications within the last five years.
  • Experience with research project management
  • Experience with international research networks and projects with external funding.
  • Experience from teaching and academic supervision from the university/university college sector.
  • Pedagogical skills.
  • Experience with communication and dissemination of research.

The position is remunerated according to governmental regulations LPL 17.510, code 1013 Professor or code 1011 Associate Professor.
