The Arctic Center for Sustainable Energy (ARC)

In 2016, UiT established the Arctic Center for Sustainable Energy (ARC), an interdisciplinary center focusing on Arctic challenges and conditions within renewable energy and greenhouse gas management. The center combines expertise in computer science, physics, humanities, chemistry, social sciences, applied mathematics, marine biology, and electrical engineering. The initiative will permeate the university in its entirety and will strengthen existing research activities at UiT within the scope of the center.

The project/position's field of research

The possible research topics for this position are:- interpretation of dynamical systems from a complex network perspective- coupling Bayesian mathematics with probabilistic programming and deep learning- combine statistical inference with graph theory to perform inference on data represented as graphs- developing theoretically grounded machine learning models for graphs.

The main field of application will be energy analytics, with a particular focus on interpreting and modelling the energy grid as a complex network to solve clustering and optimization problems.

The Postdoc Fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in applications focused on the epidemic spread over a community network and modelling climate systems as a complex network.

The Postdoc Fellow is expected to:- conceive and develop their own research ideas- establish interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers from other fields- participate in the supervision of PhD students

The Postdoc will join the Statistics and Complex System Modeling groups at the Mathematics Department at UiT.
