The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

A full time position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Position code 1352) in Vaccinology/Immunology is available for a period of two years at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

More about the position

The position is created to work on a project related to development of vaccines that are broadly protective against different subtypes of influenza, with an aim of preparing a candidate vaccine for clinical evaluation. The project will use cutting edge technologies within molecular biology and immunology.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Qualification requirements

The candidate must have completed a PhD degree in a relevant area, and preferable have knowledge on vaccine development and immunology.

We are looking for an individual who

  • is hard working and curious about development of influenza vaccines
  • has a background in immunology
  • has completed a PhD (or is very close to completing) in immunology and/or vaccinology
  • has a background in molecular biology
  • has a background in influenza research
  • has experience with animal research
  • is fluent in written and spoken English

The position is also open for candidates who have completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellow period at UiO. These candidates will be evaluated for a two-year position as a Researcher (SKO 1109).
