The farmer is the single most important factor of good livestock health and welfare. The connections between human and animal health are complex, as are the bonds between animal and owner. In FarmMERGE, we will investigate the connections between the health and work environment of farmers, and the health and welfare of their livestock. We will primarily focus on cattle and swine, but other species may also be included in the project. The goal of the project is to improve the health and welfare of both farmers and livestock.

One PhD candidate will focus primarily on farmer health (Ref.nr. 30098941), and the other candidate will focus on farmer work environment (Ref.nr. 30098941). When placing an application, please indicate which position(s) you apply for. The successful candidates will join a highly motivated, friendly and interdisciplinary research community from universities and other research institutes both in Norway and abroad, and will also work closely with representatives from the Norwegian agricultural industry. The project is funded by the The Agriculture and Food Industry Research Funds and Nord University.
