The section for Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), performs research in ecotoxicology, microbiology, cell biology, toxicogenomics as well as chemical and environmental hazard and risk assessment. The section currently offers a 2 year Post doc vacancy to conduct zebrafish embryo toxicity tests, zebrafish cell-based high-throughput screening of chemicals, toxicogenomic analyses, and basic statistical and bioinformatic analyses.

Main tasks

The postdoc position will be 100% funded by RiskAOP (200154) as a main project for two years. RiskAOP is a Research Council of Norway funded ground-breaking research project with the aims to develop quantitative Adverse Outcome Pathways (qAOP) as a next generation approach to facilitate chemical safety evaluation. The postdoc will be employed in the Section of Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment and be part of NIVA’s Computational Toxicology Program. The main tasks of the postdoc will be to conduct zebrafish embryo toxicity tests, zebrafish cell-based high-throughput screening of chemicals, toxicogenomic analyses, and basic statistical and bioinformatic analyses. The postdoc is expected to publish the results in peer-reviewed scientific papers, disseminate the work at national and international conferences and provide support to other colleagues at NIVA.

Qualifications

  • A PhD degree in ecotoxicology, environmental toxicology, molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry.
  • Relevant experience in zebrafish ecotoxicological/biomedical studies, molecular/cellular bioassays, RNA/DNA sequencing and statistical analysis
  • Candidates with relevant skills in R programming, biostatistics and bioinformatics will be prioritized for consideration
  • Excellent communication and dissemination skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English are required. Scandinavian language skills are advantageous
