The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.


Department for Digital Health Research (DIG) - Institute of Clinical Medicine (uio.no)

Oslo University Hospital is a highly specialised hospital in charge of extensive regional and local hospital assignments and the provision of high quality services for the citizens of Oslo. The hospital also has a nationwide responsibility for a number of national and multi-regional assignments and has several national centres of competence. The hospital is Scandinavia's largest and we each year carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments. Oslo University Hospital is responsible for approximately 50 percent of all medical and healthcare research conducted at Norwegian hospitals and is a significant role player within the education of a large variety of health care personnel. We are an emergency hospital for East and Southern Norway and have national emergency assignments. The hospital has a total budget of NOK 17 billion. More than 20,000 employees are engaged with activities at more than 40 different locations.

Professor II / Associate Professor combined with Senior Scientist at Department of Digital Health Research

Department of Digital Health Research is a research department in the Division of Medicine, Oslo University Hospital, combining research and innovation with the overall goal to improve patien-tcentered care, including patient education, self-management, individual follow-up, improved communication between patients and their health care providers, shared decision making and collaborative care research. The department has a longstanding history of designing, developing, testing and implementing digital (eHealth) solutions from the perspective of patients and health care providers, and utilizes participatory research methods combined with stakeholder involvement and recent advances in technological, statistical and modeling methods. Combining these methods with practice-based clinical trials and implementation science, the strong interdisciplinary team at DIG translates interventions into the contexts of everyday care and collaborative practice. Short description of the position's work tasks

  • Strategic and active research management
  • Design, lead and manage research projects in line with DIG’s research portfolio. Active research portfolio is expected
  • Research supervision/mentoring
  • Supervise/mentor master’s students, PhD students and post-doctoral fellows
  • Collaborative support of senior researchers
  • Internal/external, national/international representation and presentations of the department and it’s research portfolio
  • Active research grant writing in line with DIG’s research portfolio. Successful external research funding is expected
  • Documented research productivity with national and international (preferably also outside of Europe) collaborators
  • National and international research network and collaboration
  • Licensed health care provider with clinical experience and professional practice competency in line with DIG’s research portfolio

Qualification requirements

  • Documented education (i.e. cand.med., cand.psychol. or equivalent)
  • PhD in an area relevant to the position
  • Research experience and interest in the areas relevant to the position
  • Documented research productivity and success in grant writing as principal investigator
  • Documented significant representational/presentational activity
  • Experience supervising/mentoring PhD students and post-doctoral fellows, including as main supervisor for students having successfully completed their PhD and post-doctoral fellowship
  • Teaching/lecturing experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in Norwegian and English, oral and written
  • Personal suitability and qualities will be important
  • Good working capacity
  • Leadership experience
