The Department of Economics is the largest and highest ranked institute for economic research in Norway. The Department offers Bachelor's and Masters's programmes, as well as a doctoral programme with approximately 40 students. The department hosts a Centre for the study of Equality, Social Organization and Performance (ESOP) and a Centre for Public Economics, Oslo Fiscal Studies (OFS).

The position is a four-year research position with limited teaching and administrative duties. In Norway, assistant professorships are fixed-term appointments for up to four years, primarily intended to qualify candidates for a career in academia.

The position is partially financed by the ERC Starting Grant “Value Judgments and Redistribution Policies” (VALURED), headed by Associate Professor Paolo Piacquadio.

Qualifications and Personal Skills

Applicants will be assessed based on scientific merits, teaching, and personal qualities. Priority is given to candidates with research interest in theoretical and/or empirical aspects of taxation and welfare economics.

Candidates from Norwegian educational institutions must have submitted their doctoral dissertations for evaluation before February 1st, 2020. Candidates from foreign educational institutions must have completed the requirements for the doctoral degree within September 1st 2020. A prerequisite for taking up the position is the successful completion of a doctoral degree.
