The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

A position as Resarcher (SKO 1109) for three years is available at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine. The candidate must have relevant background in immunology, and preferably knowledge in molecular biology and / or transcriptomics. The project is located at the research group of Associate Professor Shuo-Wang Qiao at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

More about the position

This position is created to strengthen the research activities in the Qiao-group in conjunction with her appointment as deputy head of the Institute of Clinical Medicine.

Candidate for this position will work in close collaboration with the head of the group, Associate Professor Qiao, with running projects and supervising PhD students in the group. The main research focus of the group is molecular analysis of T cells on the single-cell level.

The group uses cutting edge technology within molecular biology, modern high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics. The project studies the transcriptional profile of antigen-specific T cells relevant for human diseases, and link that with the T-cell receptor information on the single-cell level.

The successful applicant will work in an interactive multidisciplinary center of scientists, in a strong academic environment, focusing on immune dysregulation in celiac disease and other autoimmune diseases.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and structured candidate with excellent laboratory skills and good collaborative qualities.

  • The candidate must have a PhD degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree) in molecular biology, cell biology or immunology.
  • The candidate should have strong immunology background and it is an advantage to have good knowledge of T-cell and/or B-cell biology.
  • It is an advantage to have experience in single-cell technologies and / or bioinformatics.
  • The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English.
