The Flow Technology research group works with reactive single and multi-phase flow and process related problems and challenges of interest to industry and society. Some of the current research topics include CCS, wind energy, metal production, electrolysis, bubble plumes, reactor technology, wave phenomena and more. The group consists of researchers with a background in applied CFD, chemical engineering, numerical methods, programming and experiments.

Job description:

We would like to strengthen our team with a scientist familiar with machine learning. The scientist is envisaged to work on analysis of flow and process data to create new models and enhance existing models. At first this will be applied to wind data related to harvest of wind energy.

We are looking for candidates with

  • A MSc or PhD within cybernetics, mathematics, physics, fluid dynamics or chemical engineering
  • Competence on machine learning

It also an advantage with experience within one or several of these topics:

  • Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD)
  • Dynamic mode decomposition (DMD)
  • Principal component analysis (PCA)
  • TensorFlow
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Process simulations
  • Wind energy

The candidate should be highly committed to applied science, be able to work in teams and strive for excellence. Good skills in English (written and oral) are required. Skills in Norwegian are an advantage, but not a requirement. Candidates available to start the position early in 2022 might be given priority, and applicants may be processed and hired before the final application date.
