The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

A full time position as a researcher (SKO 1109) for a period of four years is available at The University of Oslo, The Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Laboratory Medicine, Department of Immunology.

More about the position

The candidate will be doing vaccine research in the Department of Immunology, at the University of Oslo. The project will focus on development of novel vaccines for influenza, and the position will join one of the existing research groups within vaccinology in the department.

The project represents a continuation of research activity in the KG Jebsen Centre for Influenza Vaccine Research (JIV), with a duration of four years. The focus of the project will be to develop universal influenza vaccines preferentially by use of targeted DNA vaccine technology. For information about the research, see Anderson AM et al. Qualification requirements

  • Interested candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. in immunology or related subjects, with a strong background in immunology.
  • After completion of their PhD, the candidate should have at least 3 years’ experience (completed postdoc) with vaccine research.
  • Ability to obtain external funding will be weighted.
  • Experience with vaccine research
  • Experience with molecular biology
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Experience with work with mice
  • Experience with analyses of B cell repertoires are all highly desirable competencies.

Personal skills

  • We are looking for a talented and highly motivated researcher
  • The candidate should be highly motivated, dedicated, and proficient in written and spoken English
  • Good team working skills are required
