Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Adjunct Professor or Associate Professor of Psychiatry. The part-time professorship (20 %) is combined with a full-time (100 %) senior consultant or senior researcher position at Akershus University Hospital. The hospital has ongoing research within several fields, such as clinical research, population based health research and molecular biology research.

About the position

The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Adjuct Professor or Assosiate Professor (20%) combined with a full-time (100 %) Senior Consultant or Senior Researcher position at Akershus University Hospital.

Applicants must hold an MD, be a certified specialist in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry or addiction medicine and have sufficient clinical experience to teach medical students broadly within the area of psychiatry.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research environment will be emphasised. Active collaboration, also interdisciplinary and internationally is expected.

Relating to the main position:

The 20 % position as professor is combined with a full time (100 %) position in the Division of Mental Health Services, either as a senior researcher at the Department of Research and Development or as a consultant in one of the clinical departments. The research milieu in psychiatry consists of eight researchers/senior researchers in the R&D Department (psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurse), five postdoctors, eight PhD candidates and four persons giving research support. Several clinicians and researchers in the clinical departments are associated with the R&D Department.

From February 2019, the Division of Mental Health Services will serve a population of 575 000 and consists of five Community Mental Health Centres, Department for Children and Adolescent Mental Health, Department for Mental Health of Elderly, Department for Acute Psychiatry, Department for Special Psychiatry, Department for Addiction Services, Department for Adult Habilitation, and Department for Research and Development.

There are three research groups: 1) child and adolescent mental health, 2) adult mental health, and 3) substance abuse and addiction. There is increasing emphasis on clinical and mainly treatment studies. The Division of Mental Health Services is increasing research in all clinical departments.

The successful applicant will have an important role in developing research at the Division of Mental Health Services, and also in teaching of medical students. The appointee will have the opportunity to develop new ideas and studies and also develop collaboration with researchers nationally and internationally. Successful applications for funding of research will be expected. Broad clinical and research competence across age (children, adolescents and adults) and thematic areas will be an advantage.

Relating to the academic position:

The academic position is part time 20 %. The university Department of Health Services Research and Psychiatry has a total of 9 academic positions.
