Being a driving force for societal and regional development, the UIA has close contact with industry, organisations and cultural institutions in the region. It is an internationally oriented university in a region exposed to strong international competition. The UIA is big enough to offer variation and challenge, yet small enough for students and faculty to make their mark.

The position as Professor in eHealth offered at the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, Department of Health and Nursing Science is located in Grimstad. The town is known for its small, white wooden houses, narrow cobblestone streets and cafes and bakeries. Grimstad is a popular summer holiday destination for Norwegians and attracts thousands of tourists every year. While known for its beautiful summer attractions, the region is well situated for winter tourism as well. An international school from 1st to 10th grade and International Baccalaureate at upper secondary level are established in Arendal, only 20 minutes from Grimstad.

The campus is co-located with Grimstad’s Technology Park which is home to many innovative small businesses, particularly telecom and technology companies. The Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences consists of four departments: Psychosocial Health, Health and Nursing Science, Sport Science and Physical Education, and Nutrition and Public Health.

The Faculty has five bachelor’s programmes, six master’s programmes and one PhD programme, in addition to several continuing and further education programmes. The Faculty also has three Research Centres: Centre for e-health, Centre for Health care services, and the Priority Research Centre on Lifecourse Nutrition. The Faculty has active researchers in all the different disciplines.

Responsibilities

The Professor will conduct research in the Centre for eHealth, which is a Priority Research Centre at the University of Agder. In this centre, five faculties are closely collaborating in multi-disciplinary research projects: Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Business and Law, Faculty of Humanities and Education. Researchers have access to several laboratories dedicated for various types of user testing, e.g. usability tests (including eye tracking equipment), living lab/scenario playing within realistic surroundings and with a dedicated secure ICT infrastructure. Several externally financed research projects are ongoing, and there are currently around 10 Ph.D. fellowships and two Post-doctoral fellowships connected to the centre. In addition, 9 Professors and 10 Associate professors are affiliated with the Centre.
