Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical communication

Deadline Friday, October 13, 2017

A two year Fellowship position for a Postdoctoral research Fellow (SKO 1352) with background in clinical communication is available at Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Health Services Research and psychiatry, Akershus University Hospital.

The position is located at the research group for clinical communication headed by Pål Gulbrandsen. The group’s activities include extensive international and multidisciplinary collaboration, focusing on aspects of information exchange in clinical encounters, processes involved in developing mutual understanding, shared decision-making, and patient empowerment. We apply a variety of methodologies (from inductive analysis to using established coding schemes), always focused on translational potential: from delving into the minute details of how dialogues develop to how new understandings can inform the teaching of clinicians. We possess a unique videotaped corpus of more than 400 physician-patient encounters (in Norwegian) and a well-equipped communication laboratory. The communication research group is part of a larger health services research unit comprising more than 20 researchers in a very friendly and inclusive environment and is part of the Oslo Communication in Healthcare Education and Research group (OCHER), www.ocher.no.

The main objective of appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Fellow is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their respective area of study.
